My name is Basie Martins. I trust that you are all well and I want to thank you again for listening to this program. For those of you who do not know, we are currently discussing general topics relevant to the church and all Christians and all people. With this series, we want to determine how God feels about everyday things and everyday events in our lives. We want to familiarize ourselves with the will and the ways of God.

In this session, we want to take a closer look at how the Church and how Christians should deal with COVID-19. There are many questions about the way forward. There are even questions about the situation right now regarding the lockdown and restrictions. Is the church supposed to adhere to the instructions of governments? What are pastors and church leaders supposed to do and what are Christians supposed to do because of this? How should we deal with the message of the gospel? How should we deal with evangelistic issues? How can we reach people and how can we be obedient to the instructions of Christ regarding the great commission, amid this crisis?

First of all, I think that the church should adhere to the governments’ request to maintain social distancing and isolation and quarantine. At this stage, we just cannot carry on with church services and normal activities. We should join the rest of the world in the effort to stop the virus from spreading.

We should be cautious though. We cannot allow governments to force whatever they want to on us. We cannot throw open the gates and allow governments to change things unnecessarily. That would be a big mistake. People have rights and people should have a say on many things and many issues that affects their lives. Religious liberties and all our constitutional rights should be protected at all costs. However, we need to address all government requests on merit. When it makes sense, like the restrictions and the lockdown that was implemented, I think we should adhere to their requirements. There are many reasons why this approach is the right decision.

First of all, the coronavirus has exposed the fact that not all Christians are ready to face a threat like this yet. The church, in general, is not ready to face this threat. Christians in general just do not have the faith to prevent this virus from infecting them. We are not all on the same level of faith. John G. Lake was ready for such plagues but in general, Christians are not. The Bible is very clear on the fact that, without faith, it is impossible to please God. A double-minded man must not think that he will receive anything from God at all. When people have doubts, they are double-minded. The promises of God are yes and amen but we need faith to make it a reality in our lives. Church leaders cannot ignore this fact.

If church leaders ignore the government’s requests in this regard, many people will be exposed and put in danger. Christians will be infected, because of a lack of faith, they will become sick, many will die and they will become part of the problem. They will cause many people to get infected and it will be a disaster. The church is supposed to be the solution, not the problem. I know many people might disagree with me but I feel we need to be realistic when we make decisions concerning these issues. Church leaders cannot be reckless in this regard. You cannot risk the lives of people by making the wrong decisions about the restrictions and the lockdown that is required. Governments need to do this. This will save many lives. I know what God expects us to do but I also know what Christians can handle right now. I am not negative about this. There is a lot of hope and a lot of potentials and a lot happening right now that we can do and benefit from.

I think that Church leaders and Christians should deal with this crisis based on the level of readiness and based on our general abilities right now. Do not make the mistake to send out your members to face the world thinking that they will be immune to this virus just because you believe Psalm 91 and they think they believe Psalm 91. It will be a grave mistake. Because of the characteristics of COVID-19 and because of a lack of faith among Christians, we cannot risk this.

In my opinion, it is not that the church is influenced by fear. It is not that the church is forced by governments to act a certain way. The reality is that we are in a situation that many Christians cannot face right now. We need to adhere to the requirements of the government because it is the right thing to do. People may feel that it is not supposed to be this way. I agree with you. It is not supposed to be this way but this is how it is. The church is not ready and there are reasons why it is like it is.

One of the most important reasons that I can think of, is that we have failed to build up the faith in the hearts of people as we were supposed to do. We as church leaders have failed to ensure that the church develops and progresses spiritually so that Christians can deal with life and with life-threatening threats like this virus. This cannot be denied. We are dealing with this virus as the world does and we cannot blame anyone but ourselves. We have failed just like the world failed.

Nobody deals with this challenge as they should. The world does not deal with it as they should. Governments do not deal with this virus as they should. The church does not deal with it as it should. I think many people and many governments and many institutions and companies are all learning a lot of lessons right now. The world is focusing on this threat right now like they never did before. I think COVID-19 will ensure that the world gets themselves ready to face a pandemic like this a lot better when it happens again. I do believe that governments will be better prepared next time. I just hope that the church will do the same. We have to prepare the church for situations like this. Church leaders have to make sure that Christians are ready next time and that the church shines a lot brighter next time.

The better the church handles pandemics or situations like this, the more success the kingdom of God will have to benefit from such events. It is during times like this that the kingdom of God can cash in big time. This is when people are more likely to open their hearts for God. It is times like these that the gospel of Christ can really reach people and change their lives forever. This is when the church can change the lives of many people through the blood and life of Christ. Many people can be added to the kingdom of God right now. I am not saying that we cannot do anything right now. We can.

The church is active and we are doing what we can. However, we could have been a lot more effective if we were better prepared for this. We could have been in a much better position right now. Never have I seen so many Christians being exposed by something like this. From what I have seen and heard, it really appears that Christians do not have faith. When COVID-19 struck, Christians became scared and panic-stricken, just like the world did. It was so obvious. It was the first time that many of them had to face a real dangerous threat and many of them failed the test.

Now is the time that the church needs to do a bit of introspection. Christians need to look at themselves and their lives and their interaction with God and his word. We need to look at how we dealt with this virus up to now. We need to look at how we are going to deal with situations like this in the future. We need to look at how we are going to deal with all the consequences and after-effects of COVID-19?

We as church leaders need to do introspection too. There will be serious issues that need to be addressed in the next few weeks and months. The world will never be the same again might not be an overstatement. A lot of things are going to change. The economic complications will be challenging and who knows what else? How are we going to handle financial issues? There are quite a lot of issues that will need to be dealt with. How can we prepare ourselves and how can we prepare our congregations to deal with all these challenges? It is quite natural for people to look at what the world can offer us right now. How did governments prepare to care for people and to look after their citizens? Well, I do not think that governments will be able to care for everybody like we want them to. People will suffer losses and it will be difficult.

I mentioned in a previous program that the worldly support systems all around us have collapsed. Those that are still standing are barely hanging on in many countries. This proves that the support systems of the world just cannot be relied upon. It is actually very vulnerable. This pandemic has exposed just how vulnerable the support systems of the world are. The potential is always there that people can and do lose all they have in a moment. I am not saying this to scare you. I am saying this because it is true. It can happen and it it actually does happen all the time in the lives of many people. COVID-19 has exposed this fact but in reality, this happens every day in the lives of many people. We are not always aware of it.

Many people have lost all they have all across the world since God created it. It is nothing new. Things happen in people’s lives. All the time. People are naive to think that they will always be OK. That their financial situation will always be OK and that their health will always be OK and that everything will be OK. That is not the truth. If you are trusting in the support systems of the world then that is not true. It can be true in our lives, but that belief can only be truly trustworthy if people trust in God and his word and his promises. Only divine protection, divine maintenance, divine healing, and divine provision can really be trustworthy.

The support systems of the world will fail us all. Sometimes it happens globally as it did with COVID-19. Natural disasters, global plagues and pestilences, wars and other disasters have the knack to stick out their heads fairly regularly. Just look at history. We have been lucky this far but that can change. We may experience such threats in the future much more often than we have up to now.

Many scientists have warned through the years that technological and other developments have made the world very small. Borders have practically disappeared. The human race is much more vulnerable to pandemics than it was years ago. We need to understand that global influences can cause a lot more havoc than they previously did. We are more vulnerable now than ever. Because of this, we need to take action to protect ourselves. We cannot ignore this.

As I said, when people realize this, many of them immediately look at the options that the world provides. The world can support people. That is true. However, the worldly systems are seriously limited and not trustworthy at all. We cannot rely on the support systems of the world. Through the years, I have seen countless people all around me lose everything they have. I have seen the support systems of this world fail countless people over and over again, many times in my life. When it comes to protection, maintenance, restoration, and provision, I have only found one thing that is really guaranteed, and that is God and his word.

We cannot rely on alarm systems, fences, locks, and the police or security companies to protect us. We cannot rely on medical insurance or property insurance. We cannot rely on the financial systems of this world. We cannot rely on the medical profession. We cannot rely on the government. We cannot rely on technology. We cannot rely on the wisdom of this world. These things do help us but we cannot rely on them and think we will be OK. We can only rely on God and his word. This is when we are really OK. This is always guaranteed and it always works. It is always effective if we have faith and if we live obedient in the presence of God.

We do need to trust and to rely on God and his word. After what we have seen with this pandemic, Christians should be able to conclude that things have to change in their lives. We need to take stock. We were not ready to face this pandemic and that needs to change. We have relied on the world and its support systems and that needs to change.

People need to make a mind shift in this regard. Many people think that God and his word cannot be trusted. People think that God and his word can fail. They think that God cannot support them. They think that God does not want to support them. They think that it is too difficult for people to trust in God and his word. They think that it is impossible to live according to the word of God. They think that God and his word were limited to Old Testament times. They think that faith is just too difficult to have or to achieve. They think that they can hardly cope with life let alone living up to the standard or requirements of God and the Bible. They think that without the support systems of the world they will die or perish. They think that replacing worldly support systems with God and his word is reckless and a dumb thing to do. They think that doing so is just too big of a risk.

All these assumptions are not true. Through the years, many people have made God and his word their sole support system. They have done it and they have found all these assumptions not to be true. I know of Christians who experienced challenging situations in their lives that caused them to trust in God only. They have replaced all the support systems of the world with God and his word, many years ago and today they are still enjoying the fruit of that decision. They were ready when COVID-19 hit the world. It did not surprise them. They were ready. They are always ready.

I am talking about people who only trust in God and his word. They have no support systems in their lives except God and his word and they are living victorious and successful lives in the kingdom of God. You cannot trust in both. You either trust in God and his word or you trust in worldly support systems. However, it would be a mistake to get rid of worldly support systems if you do not have faith. That would be disastrous. The problem is that worldly support systems are very limited and very unreliable. That is why all of us need to build up our most holy faith so that we can rely on God and his word only. This is when everything is guaranteed and when you truly know that you and your family will always be OK.

My advice to people is always to start getting rid of worldly support systems one by one. Some are easier than others to get rid of. You do need to have faith before you can do so. Do not get rid of something if you do not have the faith to do so. Do not risk the lives of your loved ones if you do not have the faith to do so. However, do not hold onto earthly support systems. In the long run, it will fail you. It fails people mainly because it is so limited and so unreliable. To trust in God is guaranteed. Anyone can trust in God. All it takes is a decision and a person willing to study the word of God and willing to renew his mind. If you are willing to this, a whole new world opens up for you. It is an exciting world full of surprises and wonderful things and it is not easy. However, it is worth the trouble. It is life-changing and it is very fulfilling.

It is not only possible. It is free for everyone, no matter who you are or what you are. It is guaranteed. The reason why it is guaranteed and possible is because of the abilities of God and his angels and his word. God is able to do this for all people. He is amazingly great and capable. People do not know God and his power and abilities and therefore they cannot comprehend the statements that I made just now. It seems impossible to most people although God said himself that everything is possible with God.

It is just a matter of faith, and this is where we slipped up as leaders. We failed to preach and teach a God who knows no limitations and who can do whatever He wants to. We failed to preach and teach a God for whom nothing is impossible. We failed to help people to build up faith in their hearts. We preached limitations and impossibilities and defeat. We as church leaders do not have faith in God and his word and we as teachers taught the church not to have faith in God and his word. This needs to change. We need to understand this. We need to do introspection and we need to repent in this regard. This is the first step. We need to admit this and we need to repent and we need to change this.

Not only church leaders but also church members need to change. Church members are at fault as well. Christians cannot blame church leaders only. The Bible is very clear on the fact that all of us should be taught by the Holy Spirit. We cannot hold church leaders accountable for teaching the congregation as if it is solely their responsibility. God gave them to the church to assist the body of Christ. They are supposed to play a supportive role in this regard. The Bible does refer to teachers as part of the five-fold ministry. So church leaders must see to it that their congregations are taught the authentic word of God responsibly. However, it does not stop here. We are all supposed to study the word of God and we are all supposed to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us. We have no excuse. We are just as responsible and just as accountable.

My experience is that when people allow the Holy Spirit to teach them through the word of God, they will start to see the truth. People do struggle to see the truth. They just cannot imagine this wonderful lifestyle and possibilities that I described to become a reality in their lives. They do not believe that it can be possible. They hear of a concept called divine prosperity. They hear that people say that the Bible speaks of people who live a financially prosperous life, lacking nothing with enough access or overflow to give to other people also. They hear of people who do not fear criminals or the devil or sicknesses and diseases and plagues. They hear these people say that it will happen to many people all around them but that it will not come near them. Why not? What is so special about them? They hear that God will give instructions to the angels to carry people so that they do not get hurt or injure themselves. How is this possible? How do the angels do that? Who are those people? Where are those people?

The Bible says that those people can be identified according to a specific category. They fall under a specific category of people. The Bible says that this category of people is those who love God and who made Him their fortress. Do you understand this? These people are special because they love God and they made Him their fortress. What is a fortress? A fortress is a very strong place where people stay, specifically to be protected against external threats. A fortress is a place where people hide. We live in a world where people can hide from life-threatening threats.

Christians like these have the luxury and the privilege to live in a divine world. They live in the kingdom of God. They do not live on earth. It looks like they live on earth but in reality, they live in the kingdom of God. They live inside a fortress. They live in the restored world. Jesus Christ restored the dominion on the cross, two thousand years ago. We live in Christ on his throne.

Just look at what this is all about: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Now how on earth can this guy make a statement like this? How can He be so sure that it will work out that way? How can He say that He will give such a person a long life? Is He able to give any person a long life? How can He say, I will give you a long life? I mean, if someone says that He will give you a long life then it means that He has the power and ability to make sure that nothing happens to you. Otherwise, how can He make such a statement? How can He say, Because you love me and because you made me your fortress, I will give you a long life? What about sicknesses, diseases, calamities, plagues, criminals, predators, snakes, electricity, chemicals, knives, swords, rifles, pistols, lightning, lions, accidents, fire, floods, spiders, natural disasters? How can He bypass all those things? Well, He is God. He is almighty, He is omniscient and He is omnipresent. He is with all living creatures twenty-four seven. He misses nothing and He knows every second of every living creature even before it happens. He created everything and He can do whatever He wants.

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.

Christians read in Psalm 91 that all who love God and who made God their fortress, can face COVID-19 without any fear. They only follow the government’s requirements because it is the law. They go out into the streets without any fear at all because they know that COVID-19 may kill thousands of people all around them but it cannot come near them. This is the reality. This is the truth. They read Psalm 112 and they know that God will provide in all of their needs amid the devastation of the economic collapse caused by COVID-19. They fear nothing. They know God can protect them against COVID-19 and all its consequences. He can protect them like He did protect the nation of Israel whilst Egypt was crushed by all the plagues that He has sent against the Egyptians.

Only a person who is completely in control and who possesses amazing power and abilities can make such a statement. God always does exactly what He said He will. He can always do exactly what He said He will. God is amazing. The problem with many people is that they do not know God. They do not know what He is and what He can do. Most people did not yet fully grasp the power and the abilities of God. Most people never will. Allow me to tell you a few things about God that you probably did not realize yet.

Demonic Possession Is Very Real and On the Rise!

God knows what every human being ever thought and ever will think every second of every day of their lives. All people. Every human being that was ever born. From Adam until for all eternity. God knows every movement of every human being, of every limb and every part of their bodies since Adam, until forever. He knows every time that you blinked and He can tell you exactly when and where and why you blinked, every time you ever did, and He can do that with every human being since Adam. He can do that with every animal, whether it is a land animal, or sea animal or bird or insect or whatever. Every one of them since creation until all eternity. God does not miss a millisecond in the lives of all living creatures. He can tell you what every elephant thought at any specific time in the life of such an elephant. He can tell you the same for every worm or every maggot.

God knows everything about everyone. He observes everyone in real-time. No living creature can make the slightest movement right now without catching the attention of God. God even knew that it was going to happen beforehand. He misses nothing. He cannot be surprised. Even if there were thousands or millions or trillions of other worlds or universes with the same amount of living creatures on all of them, it would not have been an additional effort for God to do the same with all those living creatures. There is absolutely no limit to the power and the abilities of God whatsoever.

He knows when your bank charges you for administration cost the second they do it. He knows what every person speaks or thinks about you the second they do it, or even before they do. He knows every second of your life from beginning to end. He knows when and why each cell in your body dies every time one dies. He knows the exact condition of every cell and every fiber of your body, every millisecond of every day of your life. Not a single cell in your body can change anytime in your life without God knowing it. Absolutely nothing is a surprise to God. If He knows in advance, the exact second and the exact way, what any particular ant or bee or shark does or will do, how can anything be a surprise to God? God is certainly able to protect every human being against any danger or harm every second of their lives until He comes to get them at an old age, still healthy and strong like Moses was at the age of one hundred and twenty.

Still Breaking Curses?

This creature called God is amazing and there is nothing that He cannot do. He does not miss a millisecond of everything about you, no matter who you are, even if you are unsaved. If you feel that God forgot about you or that He does not care about you, your feelings cannot be further from the truth.

People just do not know God and they do not know the Bible. Most church leaders and the five-fold ministry do not know God and they do not know the word of God. We have all failed to grasp who this amazing creature called God really is. That is why the church, including all of us, the leaders and the ministers, are not ready to face plagues like COVID-19. We have failed the church. We have failed to teach the church the true gospel of Jesus Christ. We have failed to introduce people to the true amazing God of the Bible. This is why the church is not ready for global pandemics and life-threatening situations. This is why Christians struggle every day of their lives. This is why COVID-19 exposed Christians and why it exposed the church. This is why COVID-19 exposed the lack of faith in the lives of Christians.

This needs to change. We can change this. We need to be like Joshua and Caleb. We need to convince the church that the promises of God, the word of God and the blessings of God are true and possible and available to all of us. It is within our reach. We do not have to fear the giants. We can kill all the giants. We can surely enter this land that is full of milk and honey. It belongs to us. Jesus made it possible for us to enjoy the kingdom of God.

Those blessings and those promises were not for the people who lived in Biblical times only. It is actually ours. More than ninety percent of the people in the Bible did not really possess what the church does. The promises were actually for the church. It is ours.

God did not make all those promises to tease people with. He made those promises because He wants us to live happy and carefree lives. He wants us to enjoy what He has. Amid difficult challenges and danger, we enjoy provision and peace. Amid financial hardships, God’s children enjoy prosperity. Amid sicknesses and diseases, God’s children enjoy health and everything is well with their souls. It is available to all peoples. Anyone who wants to can call out the Name of God and God will hear his voice. He will hear the cry which is uttered in distress. He will answer. He is always there to save us and deliver us. He wants it for us all.

Everlasting Faith In God

It is amazing how people can ignore the word of God. It is amazing how they can ignore all the promises of God. It is amazing how they fail to believe that those promises can be a reality in their lives. It is amazing how they refuse to accept those promises. Unbelief is a really bad thing. It causes church leaders to lie to people. They may not know that they lie but unfortunately they do. They lie because they do not have faith. They do not have faith because they do not know God. They do not have faith because they do not know the word of God. They do not have faith because they haven’t been taught the true gospel of Christ and the true word of God. Because they have been deceived, they deceive many others. We need to change that. We need to take stock. We need to review the things that we teach our congregations. We need to review our doctrines.

The church needs change. If nothing else changes, let us change at least two things. Let us teach the truth. Let us teach the true word of God and let us preach the real God of the Bible. If nothing else changes, at least these two things will ensure spiritual growth and development in the body of Christ. People need to know who God is and what He really said. They need to know that the promises of God are for them. This will change the lives of Christians tremendously.

Every church leader needs to make this decision. Every church leader needs to make sure that he teaches his congregation the truth. The truth will set him free and the truth will set them free. It is all just a matter of making a decision. We need to be willing to take a fresh look at the word of God. We need to take a fresh look at the Bible. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us. We as church leaders can make a difference. We can change the course of the church. This generation can make a difference.

We need to prepare the church for this lifestyle. We need to help our congregations to embark on this path of faith. They will need our support and assistance. You see, this path is not always so easy. There are the initial fear and challenges that they have to deal with. They need encouragement to do that. It takes a bit of commitment and then they will enjoy the open sea. It is like a skipper of a small boat having to steer his boat through rough waters and huge waves before he reaches the calm waters of the open sea. Once he reached the open sea he will be able to explore the world. Then he can explore the world to see what God has in store for him and where God leads him to.

The first task was to get the boat ready for sailing. The second task was to get through the initial rough waters. This is when we need to assist and support and encourage our congregations. This is what the Bible calls spiritual development and spiritual growth. This is when people vigorously study the word of God so that they may know his will and his ways. This is when they renew their minds. This when they allow the Holy Spirit to engrave the word of God onto the tables of their hearts. It is not just a matter of reading the word of God and familiarizing yourself with the word of God. Many people know what is written in the Bible and still, that does not change their lives. It is more than just reading.

To achieve what I have discussed just now, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to build the word of God firmly into our hearts. It needs to be engraved permanently on the tables of our hearts. There is only one way to do that. A person I know calls it “pumping the word of God”. It is like taking a conventional pump and slowly but surely going through the trouble of manually inflating all the wheels of your car including the spare wheel. It is a tough job. It requires quite a physical effort but slowly but surely, if you persist, you will inflate every wheel up to the required pressure. You just pump and pump and pump until all those wheels are completely inflated. You only have to do it once. After that, you may need to inflate it just a little now and then.

He also compares it to a bodybuilder building his muscles. It is “pumping the word of God” like a bodybuilder “pumping” his muscles with those weights. The weights are heavy and it is an effort to build up all the muscles in your body. Again, you only have to do it once. After that, you just maintain your muscles which is easy to do.

Inflating the wheels and building up your muscles are both repetitive actions. We need to be disciplined and committed to doing that. So if we keep on meditating on the promises of God or his word, eventually it will be engraved in our hearts. First, we choose to believe the word of God. Then we try to memorize it and we keep on repeating it whilst we meditate on its meanings and implications until it starts to live in our hearts. The word of God has the built-in ability to produce faith. It is spirit and it is life. The moment we believe it, that moment we will start to act on it. When we act on it it becomes a reality in our lives. That is when we start to call things into existence that never existed before.

As we keep on doing this, we grow spiritually. We become stronger and stronger in the word of God. We become more mature and we become bolder. At some point, we reach a place where we start to utterly trust God because we know his word is yes and amen, which means guaranteed. This is when fear loses its grip on you. This is when you will be able to sacrifice your only son, knowing that God will raise him from the dead. This is when you will completely ignore a snakebite, knowing that the deadly poison of that snake won’t hurt you. This is when you kill all the giants in your life. This is when you restore your soul and your body completely. This is when you start to reach out to other people and when you deliver them and heal them and restore their lives.

Yes, I know that this is not that easy to do but anyone can do it. It takes time and effort and commitment but the alternative is not acceptable. The alternative is a life of defeat and a life filled with disappointments, hardships, regrets, failures, and lost opportunities. We actually have no choice. We have to embark on this wonderful journey with Christ and with the Father and with the Holy Spirit and with the word of God. It will be so fulfilling and so worth all the trouble. Do it, you can. Take it, it is yours. Do not give up, it is guaranteed. You will succeed.

the word of God is powerful! However, it is only powerful in the lives of those who believe the word and who use the word. We do need to know the word of God and we do need to believe the word of God and we do need to renew our minds. This produces faith. Faith and the word of God are linked to each other. One cannot exist without the other. The word of God automatically gives us the ability to believe. It automatically gives us faith.

So we do the natural and the word produces the supernatural. We decide to believe what God said, which is the word of God, and the word of God will produce faith automatically. It is just a matter of deciding. It is a decision. It starts with us deciding that we are willing to believe God. That decision opens the door. We do the easy part. We all need to declare, that, as from a particular moment in our lives, that we are going to believe every word that ever came out of the mouth of God.

We need to decide that we are no longer going to accommodate all sorts of arguments and excuses to cast doubt on the promises in the Bible. We are just going to believe the word of God, no matter how outrageously impossible it may sound. We are not going down the path of intellectual reasoning anymore. We are just going to believe God and his word. Period. We are rejecting all false doctrines and false teachings from that moment on. We are starting all over again in this regard.

I have identified quite a few doctrines that make it impossible to take up our inheritance. These doctrines cause us to live lives of defeat instead of victory.

In the session, let me mention just one:

The false doctrine of generational curses. So although God promised mankind that He will repeal the law of generational curses through his prophet Jeremiah: Jeremiah 31:29-30 In those days people will no longer say, The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes – their own teeth will be set on edge. This is what God promised in the days of Jeremiah and very soon after the promise, those days arrived…

And although God did declare that He has fulfilled this promise in the days of Ezekiel, people still believe in generational curses. Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Read the whole chapter of Ezekiel 18 and you will see that the promise made in the days of Jeremiah was indeed fulfilled in the days of Ezekiel. God was surprised that the Israelites were offended by this. See Ezekiel 18:19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

So people still refer to Scriptures about generational curses which were recorded in the Bible before Jeremiah and Ezekiel and they ignore the Scriptures that came after the Scriptures that they so zealously use to support their false doctrines. They refer to old laws that were legally repealed by God and still apply them to people today. They don’t do that with other Scriptures like the one about “an eye for an eye, a hand for a hand and a tooth for a tooth” which was also repealed.

This is of the utmost importance. Every church leader and every child of God need to take a fresh look at doctrines. We need to check what we teach our congregations. This makes all the difference. This will determine whether the members of our congregations will be able to defeat whatever threatens their lives. This brings victory in the lives of people. This prepares them for life. This will help Christians and the church to deal with situations like COVID-19 as they should. This will show the world that the church is victorious and relevant in all situations, no matter how challenging it is.

This is all for today. See you next time.
