Session 7

My name is Basie Martins. I trust that you are all well and I want to thank you again for listening to this program. For you who do not know, this program is about dreams and visions.

In the previous session we discussed the meanings of color in dreams and visions. In today’s session, we are discussing the meanings of the movement of objects in dreams and visions. This includes moving left or right or west or east or south or north. It also includes the direction objects are facing and also the position of the object in the visionary field of the dream or the vision. The same symbol has slightly different meanings which are determined by its position in the visionary field. There are usually five positions in the visionary field of a dream or a vision, the center, the top left, the top right, the bottom left and the bottom right. This aspect of dreams interpretation is very interesting and also very important. People who do not know these principles lose quite a lot of information and they often interpret dreams and visions incorrectly because of this.

Directions and movement in dreams and visions are very important and every dreams and visions symbols interpreter needs to know how directions and movement and the position of symbols change the meanings of these symbols. Every color or direction or movement reveals more details to us about the message or the different symbols. Different directions and movements change the meaning of dreams and visions. It is important to take note in which direction a specific object is facing.

This is what the Scriptures says about this:

Ecclesiastes 10:2

A wise man’s heart is at his right hand; but a fool’s heart at his left.

Matthew 25:33

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

So what is the implications when we observe people turning right or moving to the right or observing objects on their right hand side in dreams and visions?

In a general sense, taking a right turn or moving to the right in dreams and visions symbolizes a good decision. It speaks of a positive or a right or a good decision or movement with good consequences which leads to deliverance or victory or benefits in a specific situation.

What does it mean when a negative symbol moves to the right in dreams and visions?

A negative symbol moving from left to right speaks of deliverance from bondage pertaining to the relevant symbol in the dream, or vision. This speaks of God revealing that victory and deliverance are on the way, usually, as a result of repentance or prayer or authority taken in faith.

A negative symbol moving to the right can also indicate that, although negative, the experience will have good and positive results in our lives. For example, a crocodile, which is a negative symbol of oppression or an attack by a sly or divisive or shrewd or a dangerous person on one’s life, moving to the right in the dream or vision, indicates that the specific oppression or attack is about to come to an end. The Holy Spirit is actually exhorting us with these types of dreams or visions.

What does it mean when a positive symbol moves to the right in dreams and visions?

A positive symbol moving from left to right confirms that blessings or victory or deliverance, pertaining to the specific symbol, in a bad or undesired situation is imminent.

So what is the implications when we observe people turning left or moving to the left or observing objects on their left hand side in dreams and visions?

In a general sense, taking a left turn or moving to the left in dreams and visions symbolizes a bad decision. It speaks of a negative or a wrong or a bad decision or movement with bad consequences which leads to bondage or defeat or the losing of benefits in a specific situation.

What does it mean when a negative symbol moves to the left in dreams and visions?

A negative symbol moving from right to left is a warning. Because of sin or unbelief or disobedience some kind of attack is ahead. God gives us these types of dreams to make us aware of the attacks and strategies of the enemy. Evil powers always attempt to deceive us or to move us into sin or unbelief to oppress us. This is a warning to enable us to deal with the temptation or the attack by means of obedience, repentance, and faith in his word. These type of dreams are there as a warning in order for us to counteract the approaching threat.

What does it mean when a positive symbol moves to the left in dreams and visions?

A positive symbol moving from right to left in dreams and visions speaks of a specific blessing of God being canceled. It speaks of an action or behavior or the lack of action or behavior that led to the cancellation of a promise or blessing. It is important to note what the symbol is to understand the reason for the cancellation.

What is the meanings of different human body parts when it comes to their position in dreams and visions?

The left-hand side of the human body speaks of negative and positive influences while the right-hand side of the body speaks of negative and positive actions. The Left-hand is all about receiving (negative or positive influences) and the right-hand all about giving (negative or positive actions).

The left side of the human body symbolizes negative or positive influences in the life a person, usually pertaining to specific events or specific incidents or situations. It speaks of a person being influenced to believe or to be motivated or to accept certain things. Limbs and internal organs are usually and an indication of what the circumstances or areas of concern are. This is not about actions but more about being exposed to pressure from other people. More detail like positive or negative colors or symbols will reveal more about the meaning of a specific dream.

The right side of the body, which includes limbs and internal organs, speaks of negative or positive actions in the life of a person. This is all about actions. More detail like positive or negative colors or symbols will reveal more about the meaning of a specific dream.

A lady I know once had a dream of a hole inside her left upper leg the size of a soccer ball. This hole was completely internal and thus invisible.

This lady was suffering from a substance use disorder. She was attempting to overcome this problem and really trusted God whilst doing so. She stopped using medication and after a week she was still doing well. Unfortunately, her mother and her husband both did not support her in this effort. They wanted her to keep using prescription drugs because they feared that she might become moody or aggressive because this happened in the past when she did not use her medication. They started to influence her in a negative way.

The dream she had was a warning from God not to accept the advice from her husband and her mother but to resist the influence and the pressure that they were putting on her. They were slowly but surely weakening her faith and breaking down her motivation. “Legs” speak of spiritual power. She was slowly losing spiritual power because of the attitude of her mother and her husband.

What does it mean when a symbol is situated in the bottom left of the visionary field of the dream or vision?

When a symbol is situated in the bottom left corner of a dream or vision, it symbolizes past events that need to be dealt with. This includes past hurt or negative influences or condemnation or unforgiveness. For example, if a person sees a tiger in the bottom left side of the visionary field it means that, like a tiger, this person is not submitting himself to others and he lives for himself and his own basic needs based on or caused by past influences. Such a person might have had a father, with a “tiger” attitude, who influenced him to become that way.

Let us explain this again but this time using a positive symbol: A sheep symbolizes good willed and obedient people of God. When we see a sheep in the bottom left corner of the visionary filed it speaks of a person whose will and actions are sheep-like which speaks of such a person being obedient and willing to follow Christ unconditionally. The bottom left corner suggests that such a person has been influenced by someone or something in the past which caused him to live and act according to the will and the ways of God.

What does it mean when a symbol is situated in the bottom right of the visionary field of the dream or vision?

When a symbol is situated in the bottom right corner of a dream or vision, it symbolizes the will and the actions of a person. The same tiger now symbolizes a person who is not submitting himself to others, he lives for himself and his own basic needs. This person might be influenced by aggressive demonic spirits or bad and aggressive people to act that way but the bottom line is that this indicates the actions of a person right now or at the time of the dream or vision. The influences have been successful or a person may have decided to act this way by himself and such a person is already acting a certain way.

If a sheep is seen in the bottom right area of the visionary field it speaks of a person who is presently acting holy and obedient in the presence of God or just decided to be obedient to God. Such a person is actively submitting his own will to the will of God.

What does it mean when a symbol is situated in the top left of the visionary field of the dream or vision?

When a symbol is situated in the top left corner of a dream or vision it symbolizes the present circumstances or situations that a person is presently involved with. The emphasis, however, is the fact that symbols in the top left corner involve logical and analytical reasoning. The same tiger now symbolizes that this person is not submitting himself to others and he lives for himself and his own basic needs based on or caused by negative and aggressive reasoning and negative experiences. This again speaks of influences (reasoning and experiences) but this time it is present influences.

A symbol of a sheep in the top left area of the visionary field in a dream indicates that such a person is acting like a good-willed and obedient Christian as a result of analytical and logical reasoning and influences. It speaks of such a person probably not serving God in spirit and in truth but rather because he knows that he needs to. This indicates a person serving God in a legalistic way.

What does it mean when a symbol is situated in the top right of the visionary field of the dream or vision?

When a symbol is situated in the top right corner of a dream or vision, it symbolizes future events. This involves the prophetical gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as natural creativity and imagination. In a negative sense, a tiger in the top right area of the visionary field symbolizes that a person is being influenced to become a person who is not submitting himself to others and who lives for himself and his own basic needs. Such a person, although not yet, is in danger of becoming like a tiger. It speaks of future actions which will have negative results as symbolized by the symbol of the tiger.

If the symbol of a sheep is seen in the top right area of the visionary field it speaks of a person who is about to, or in the near future, submit his will and his actions to the will and the ways of God.

Let me repeat these aspects by giving you a short summary of the meanings of movement and positions of symbols in dreams and visions: Symbols situated in the top area of dreams and visions are all about events, the present, top left and the future, top right. Man lives in the now and we plan for the future. The past is history and those events cannot be controlled. We, however, do have control over the now and over the future. God reveals his will to us and He gives us to advise in dreams and visions so that we take the right decisions. This can alter situations and even future events.

These type of dreams and visions are warnings and good advice for the present and future. Seeing that symbols or objects in the top right of the visionary field indicate future events, these symbols relate to our expectation, our faith and our hope for things to come into existence, things to be changed and things to be achieved.

Symbols situated in the bottom areas of dreams and visions are all about actions (past and future). The focus is on our actions and the results of these actions. The past results are usually emotional issues and sinful conditions like unforgiveness. Although our past actions cannot be dealt with we can still, thank God, deal with the results of past actions. We can be healed of negative emotions and we can get rid of sin and unrighteousness caused by past actions. We can also make sure our future actions are according to God’s will and according to his kingdom principles. These type of dreams and visions are warnings, about future actions, and counseling, to deal with the results of past actions.

What is the meaning of substitution in dreams and visions?

I am convinced that we sometimes have dreams in which we are “experiencing” the dream or rather “receiving the message” of the dream on behalf of another person, with the sole purpose to show us what these people are going through or experiencing in their lives. We are, in such cases, receiving the answer or the knowledge pertaining to such a person on his behalf, although the dream or the message is not for him but actually for us. In the dream, we, although we are aware of our real identity, experience the dream on behalf of a person we know.

When I talk about a person or when I ask some questions about a person, I often receive answers from God about that person that same night. When I wake up the next morning I sometimes feel a bit confused about the meanings of this type of dream until I realize that the dream was actually about the person I talked about or asked questions about the day before.

It is not about me, although, in the dream, I experienced it as if it is about me or as if it is a message for me. Now, remember that this is not a message for that person. It is, in fact, an answer, from God to you, regarding the questions you asked about that person. In order for you to completely understand what these persons are going through. God causes you to experience in the dream, what they are really going through. You experience the dream as circumstances in your own life when it is in fact all about the person you discussed the day before or asked questions about the day before.

It can be a bit confusing and therefore we need to pray about this type of dream. If it does not make sense, or, if you are not sure about a specific dream, just check if it is perhaps about another person. Dreams are not always about us or our personal situations and experiences. God sometimes informs us about situations in other peoples lives, mainly so that we can pray for such people, or for some other reasons in order for us to assist those people.

Pray that God reveals the purpose of all dreams to you so that you can act upon them correctly.

What is the meanings of the different sizes of objects in dreams and visions?

Sometimes a symbol in a dream or vision seems to be excessively big or small. Excessively big sometimes indicates that the specific aspect has been a problem or an influence for a long time or a very big problem.

See also
Pagan Dreams And Visions Dictionaries

An excessively small symbol indicates that the problem or influence only started recently or that the problem is not that serious or significant.

For instance, a huge frog indicates the attitudes, actions or influences of a person with a spirit of false prophecy which started a long time ago, or that the person is involved with a serious or big problem with serious consequences in this regard. A small frog speaks of a person who got involved with false prophecies only recently or that this particular problem is not serious but still a concern.

So sizes speaks of a long time or a big problem or both or a short time or a small problem or both.

What is the meanings of numbers in dreams and visions? It is important to understand that the numbers from 1 to 13 in dreams and visions are the basic numbers with spiritual significance and are, therefore, the most important numbers in dreams and visions. The meanings of these numbers are not altered in multiples of these numbers but, the symbolical truths of these numbers are intensified by the relevant multiples.

Numbers with a positive meaning are usually observed in dreams and visions in the following colors: Silver, gold, white, purple, green, amethyst, and blue.

Numbers with a negative meaning are observed in dreams and visions in the following colors: Brown, orange, black, pink, yellow, green, pale green, gray, very dark colors, and red.

As I mentioned in the previous session, the color green can be a bit confusing for it can, in a positive sense, symbolize prosperity or financial or spiritual blessings or, in a negative sense, symbolize soulish or fleshly intellectual reasoning.

Take note that there is sometimes no indication whether a number is negative or positive in dreams and visions. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to reveal to us whether numbers are negative or positive if it is not revealed by means of colors.

In some cases, each individual number in a dream or a vision forms part of a little puzzle which emphasizes and highlights the meanings of other symbols in the particular dream or vision.

For instance, a person I know once had a dream of him driving to a specific town. In the dream, he stopped at a gas station in a rural area to fill up his vehicle. After filling up the vehicle he stretched his legs a bit. In the dream, this person suddenly realized that he needed to travel or cover another 162 kilometers to reach the town, which is called “Windhoek” in Afrikaans. A direct translation of the name of this town is “Windcorner” or “Place where the wind hits a corner” or something similar, indicating that the wind meets resistance in this place or the wind is deviated by something at this place.

This man was not a Christian at the time of this dream. Some symbols in the dream, which I did not mention above, indicated that he was relying on his own efforts to achieve salvation. It was clear that his time was running out and that he was reaching a dead end. Just for the purpose of explaining the meanings of the numbers in this dream, I am not going to discuss the other symbols in the dream.

When I interpreted the dream, I immediately realized that the meanings of numbers 1 and 6 and 2 were to be individually applied in the interpretation and not the number 162. To explain it as briefly as possible, this man needed to deal with the meaning of the number 1, which, in a negative sense symbolizes independence or disunity or separation from God. He also had to deal with the meaning of the number 6, which, in a negative sense symbolizes man’s will and the willingness of man which is contrary to the will of God. He also had to deal with the meaning of the number 2, which, in a negative sense symbolizes disagreement and division.

This dream was a warning. This man had to deal with these issues before he reached that town. If he gets into an agreement with God and if he lives in unity with God and other people when he enters that town, he will be fine, but, if he does not, he will experience a sudden change in his life which will have serious consequences for him. We will not discuss the meanings of all numbers but we will only discuss the most important or the basic numbers that are usually observed in dreams and visions. Although there are more than one Scripture to prove the meanings of the different numbers, I am only referring to one Scripture per symbol

The number One

1 John 5:7-8

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

In dreams and visions, the number one symbolizes unity. The Godhead is three yet they are one. Nothing can present unity as significant as the Godhead. We are one in Christ and, therefore, we are part of the unity of the Godhead. We are one with God and we are one family, which is the family of God.

In dreams and visions, the number four symbolizes nature and knowledge. The number four can be seen in many aspects of nature; the four winds, the four seasons, the four corners of the earth.

A square relates to the four corners of the earth (breadth, and length, and depth, and height) which also symbolizes knowledge. The Bible also refers to the love of God which consists of four aspects and which needs to be understood; breadth, and length, and depth, and height. We need to know the love of God. We need to have a revelation of his love.

What is the meanings of shapes in dreams and visions?

A Circle

Mark 3:34

And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Psalm 19:6

His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Isaiah 40:22

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

A circle in a dream or a vision symbolizes unity. A circle of people facing each other and holding each other’s hands emphasizes the concept of unity. This is exactly what Jesus suggested in Mark 3:34 when He looked around in a circle at those who sat about him when He said, “Here are my mother and brothers and sisters”

A circle also symbolizes endlessness or timelessness or eternity as the circuit of the son displays.

In another sense, a circle speaks of the wisdom of God because it has no beginning and no end.

A black Circle

In a negative sense, a black circle speaks of loneliness. It also speaks of an independent spirit or separation from God.

Take note that the color of the shapes changes the meaning:

A blue circle symbolizes unity and wisdom because of the revelation knowledge of Christ.

A purple circle symbolizes unity and wisdom because of the love of God.

A red circle symbolizes dissension because of conflict or hatred.

A Square

Ephesians 3:17-18

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.

The number “4” is associated with a square (4 sides). Scriptures also reveal that true Biblical knowledge is fourfold; that you may understand the length and width and height and depth of God’s love. A square in dreams and visions, therefore, symbolizes a knowledge or revelation knowledge.

A blue square symbolizes divine knowledge divinely revealed knowledge.

A green square symbolizes intellectual knowledge. This suggests that the knowledge was obtained through the intellect and not by means of revelation. Sometimes a green square symbolizes legalistic knowledge.

A Triangle

1 John 5:7-8

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

The number “3” is associated with a triangle (3 sides). A triangle, therefore, symbolizes harmony and unity. The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are the three witnesses in heaven. The Spirit, the water and the blood are the three witnesses on earth. The number three and a triangle, therefore, speaks of harmony and unity.

A black triangle symbolizes discord or confusion.

This is all for today. In the next session we will be discussing the meanings of clothes and the meanings of vehicles in more detail. In the fists session of part two of this series we briefly discussed the meanings of the different symbols that represent human beings in dreams and visions. We mentioned and briefly discussed the different meanings of trees and houses and animals and vehicles and people. These symbols are very common in dreams and visions and we need to discuss each one of them in more detail. So we will kick off with vehicles and with clothes and we will discuss the differences between clothes and vehicles. In a next session we will discuss the meanings and the differences between houses and people.
