H – Symbols (The meanings or the interpretation of most symbols in this dictionary are derived from the Bible)

Hail

Psalm 78:47

He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

Psalm 18:13

The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

Isaiah 28:2

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

Hail in dreams and visions symbolizes the judgment of God. See “Coal” and see “Fire” and see “Coals of fire” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hair

Judges 16:17,22

17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

22 Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

Isaiah 3:24

And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

Hair speaks of Godly authority (maturity). As the verse above implies, baldness is bad. Hair speaks of the protection of our minds. Long white, blue, gray (wisdom of the aged) or blond hair speaks of a person who is often meditating on the word of God. Because of the many thoughts on the word of God (renewal of our minds), it speaks of maturity and it speaks of authority. The longer the hair the better. A person who is bald symbolizes a person who is immature and weak when it comes to spiritual matters. Long hair (positive colors) speaks of the submission to the spiritual authority of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and the word of God.

In a negative sense, hair also speaks of our own fleshly thoughts, attitudes, and characters. This is symbolized by negative hair color (red, black, yellow, orange, paint gray) and also by other negative conditions of our hair.

Hair (Long and disorderly)

Long and disorderly hair speaks of a person who regularly (long hair) ponders on different and negative (disorderly) thoughts. Our thoughts must be arrested and submitted to the word of God.

Hair (Red)

Red hair speaks of a person who is continuously having thoughts of conflict, disunity, confrontation, vengeance, and fury.

Hammer

Jeremiah 23:29

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Hammers in dreams and visions speak of the powerful word of God which crushes or causes rocks to disintegrate (broken in pieces) because of it’s power when it hits it. A hammer is hard and strong. See “Rock” which, in this sense, speaks of an earthly (false) foundation and/or an obstacle or a stumbling block. The word of God removes obstacles and stumbling blocks and it destroys false or bad foundations.

Hand

John 10:28

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Psalm 90:17

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Psalm 17:7

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

1 Peter 5:6

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.

Psalm 110:5

The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

The hands of a person symbolize the power and organizational aspects of the body of Christ. It is all about power (opportunity and ability to bring into existence) organizing, functioning and the handling of spiritual issues in the body of Christ. It symbolizes strength, power, possession (in one’s hand) and action. It also speaks of the helping hand of God which was delegated to the church. It is about equipping the saints for the ministry and the building up of the body of Christ. Even the finger of God by which Jesus cast out demons speaks of the work of God.

There is a difference between hand and foot although it appears to be very similar. With “hand” the emphasis is on power and organizing and guiding whilst with “foot” the emphasis is on the stepping out and performing what was decided upon. See “Foot”

Always remember to take the difference in meanings into consideration in terms of whether it is the left or right body part that you dreamed of. See “Directions and Locations (movement or location) in dreams and visions (Human body parts)”

See “Finger” for more about the five-fold ministry for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hands also symbolize the healing ministry. See “Tree (Leaves)”

Hands (Clapping)

The clapping of hands in dreams and visions symbolizes joy and rejoicing and the exaltation of God.

Hangers (Clothes)

In dreams and visions, the condition of the hangers onto which we hang our clothes in our cupboards symbolizes the condition of our spiritual preparation. For instance, a person dreaming that the hangers that he/she use for his/her clothes are rusty and bent (steel), it symbolizes that their spiritual preparation has the man-made doctrines of man as a basis. This speaks of the need of this person to replace old and erroneous doctrines with authentic and truly Biblical based doctrines. It also speaks of such a person being spiritually prepared for ministry the right way. Sometimes people dream that they replace old hangers for new modern hangers. Colors play an important part when it comes to this symbol (the color of the hangers).

In dreams and visions, it is important that we have the right clothes, the right hangers, and the right cupboards and drawers for our clothes. Just as in real life we do not store our valuable clothes in old, dirty, and broken cupboards and drawers, so it is in dreams and visions as well. It speaks of responsibility when it comes to obtaining and looking after our clothes. In a spiritual sense, hanging clothes on old rusted iron hangers speaks of an attitude of recklessness in our spirits concerning our ministry or concerning the sustaining of our ministry. “Old” speaks of reverting back to old spiritual truths, “rusted iron” speaks of contaminated man-made support structures. In this sense, this condition forms a basis or a foundation in terms of looking after our ministries (clothes).

See “Cupboards and “Closets” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hangman

A hangman symbolizes a person who brings an end to something or an end to a particular situation or relationship. The hangman is in charge and in the particular situation he has the power and the authority to “kill” another person. This speaks of him being able to end a relationship or a particular situation. It speaks of him legally taking action and legally bringing an end to something. When people dream of this symbol, it is important to determine whether a current situation in terms of relationships or in terms of an undesired situation has been bothering you. In such a case, this symbol indicates that you do have the power to end it.

See “Death” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Harlot

Revelation 17:1

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters.

Isaiah 1:21

How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

Jeremiah 2:20

For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.

A Harlot in dreams and visions symbolizes spiritual idolatry. It speaks of Christians replacing or substituting grace and faith by works of the flesh or legalism. It speaks of people who “indulge” themselves in the acts of legalism.

See “Police (Prosecutors)” and see “Idolatry” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Harp

Psalm 150:3

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Psalm 33:2

Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

Revelation 14:2-3

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

Revelation 14:2,3

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

A harp in dreams and visions symbolizes the praise and the worship of God.

A harp in another sense symbolizes a person with a ministry of deliverance (the casting out of demons to deliver a person from demonic oppression and possession).

Hart

See “Deer”

Harvest (Reaping the crop)

Mathew 13:30

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Revelation 14:14-20

14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

The harvesting of a crop in dreams and visions symbolizes the gathering of souls for the kingdom of God.

Hat

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

A hat covers the head (brain or intellect which is the mind). A hat in dreams and visions, therefore, symbolizes the protection of the mind. It is a covering for the mind. A sound and a good mind is a mind filled with the word of God. In dreams, a hat speaks of a person’s submission under the authority of the word of God (to be transformed by the renewing of your mind). It is all about the submission to the spiritual covering of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and the word of God.

See “Helmet” and “Snake” and “Head” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hat (Black)

A black hat speaks of a person whose mind is under the authority of the enemy. Such a person’s mind is not renewed and such a person is plagued by unbelief or depression or fear. His mind is often filled with negative thoughts. This indicates that the word of God is not really a priority in such a person’s life.

See “Hat” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hat (Sombrero)

A person wearing a sombrero in dreams and visions symbolizes a lazy attitude toward work and toward other responsibilities. In this case, the emphasis is more on the person’s attitude. Thoughts of laziness and plans and strategies that prevent him from being discovered or called upon when things need to be done, fill such a person’s mind.

See “Hat” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hat (White)

A white hat speaks of a person who walks in the light of the word of God. It speaks of a person who renewed his mind and who submitted his mind to the word of God. Such a person operates and functions in the body of Christ in righteousness and in submission to the word of God. His thought life is under control and conforms with the word of God.

See “Hat” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hatchet

See “Ax”

Hawk (Falcon)

Deuteronomy 14:11-15

11 Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

13 And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,

14 And every raven after his kind,

15 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind.

Like an owl, a hawk relies on its own ability to see and find prey. A hawk in dreams and visions symbolizes a demonic worldly wisdom stealing heavenly wisdom. Such a worldly wisdom steals the word of God in the lives of God’s children. It is an unclean bird and it symbolizes people (their spirits) or demonic spirits. Hawks are known for suddenly appearing and diving quickly upon its prey to kill it.

See “Animals” and “Creatures (Of the air)” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hay

Isaiah 15:6

For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.

1 Corinthians 3:12

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble…

Hay in dreams and visions symbolizes something that is of little worth. It speaks of something being like hay that withers away. It has no value.

Haze

A haze in dreams speaks of something that is obstructing our view so that we cannot see. It is almost like the early morning mist which prevents people from driving. As with people driving in the mist, we need to get rid of conditions in our lives that prevent us from “seeing” clearly when it comes to spiritual matters. The color of the haze will reveal more information on the reason why it is obstructing insight in the lives of people.

See “Eyes”

Head

Mathews 22:37

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

1 Corinthians 11:3

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 1:22

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.

Luke 27:22-23

22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

1 Corinthians 2:16

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Ephesians 5:23-24

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

In dreams and visions, the head of a person symbolizes lordship, ruler-ship, thoughts, intelligence and the mind of such a person. All these words are integrated and complete each other. For instance, bad and negative or depressive thoughts cause a person to rule in a bad way. The mind is the key factor in terms of good leadership. That is why Solomon asked God for wisdom. He knew that he needed the wisdom to govern and to rule efficiently.

God’s wisdom is his word. We can only rule wise when our minds have been renewed. We need to apprehend every thought and submit it unto the word of God. Our heads (minds) need to be full of God’s word and all other thoughts need to be removed and cast away.

The Bible (the word of God) sometimes can be very hard for us to understand or to accept as the true word of God. Sometimes preachers teach doctrines that we do not want to accept although it is truly the word of God. People who refuse to grasp the truths of the Bible can be regarded as people whose heads (intellect) are in the way. Through the years, many people have dreamed their heads or the heads of other people are being or have been chopped off. This speaks of people who need to obtain the mind of Christ by submitting their own minds to the mind of Christ. To see somebody losing his head in a dream or a vision is actually a good thing. It speaks of a person being delivered of false doctrines.

Head (Baldness)

See “Baldness”

Headphones

Dreaming of headphones on your head symbolizes the ability to hear God’s voice clearer. Spiritual headphones speak of the muting out of other sounds and putting a greater focus on what God is saying. Using headphones in dreams and visions speaks of us hearing new sounds of God’s heartbeat, his revelation, and his direction. It speaks of getting a clearer hearing ability to hear God.

Heart

Matthew 12:35

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

1 Timothy 1:5

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.

Psalm 40:8-12

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

1 Corinthians 7:37

Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

2 Chronicles 12:14

And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.

Romans 6:17

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Proverbs 25:20

As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

While the stomach symbolizes the spirit and the brains symbolize the intellect of a person (soul), the human heart symbolizes the will and emotions and the motivation of a person (soul) in the fleshly realm. In this sense, unlike the brains (intellectual side of the soul), the heart also symbolizes the soul of a person in terms of the emotional, the will and the motivational side of the soul of a person.

When David prayed that God must search his heart to see if there is any sin or wrong motivation hidden in the dark corners of his heart, he was referring to his soul and not his spirit. Our spirits are always in harmony with the Spirit of God. The problem is with our souls. Our souls are always in rebellion against God or always want to resist the Holy Spirit.

Our spirits always want to do the right thing. It always wants to do good. It always wants to obey God and it always does. It always attempts to convince the soul to be obedient. It never forces the soul but the moment the soul allows the spirit to convince it to accept God’s will and to do God’s will, the will and the laws of God are being established in the soul like it already is established in the spirit. However, when the soul ignores the spirit and does what it wants, the spirit accepts it and will never attempt to force the soul. However, it does not partake in the sins of the soul (1 John 3:9 – Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God).

When the soul sins (Roman 7:15 – For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I) the spirit is dormant. The human spirit does not sin when the soul sins. It stays obedient to God and is therefore always in harmony with God. Whenever the soul obeys the will of God, it opens the door for the Holy Spirit to move into our lives. The soul (heart) links the body with the spirit. The soul (heart) is, therefore, the gate between the natural and the spiritual realms. The condition of the soul determines our spiritual growth, development, and success.

Emotions are very important to us. We are very much aware of the good and the bad emotions in our hearts. Emotions are situated in our souls. When we are sensing a very warm and pleasant feeling (emotion) in our souls we often touch our hearts with our hands. It feels so good that we are often mistaking our hearts for our spirits instead of our souls. The human spirit is not so much emotionally driven. It is moved and guided by the word of God (spiritual food – stomach) and not so much by emotions.

Heart (Attack)

A heart attack in dreams and visions symbolizes a person who is about to quit or leave a specific situation (motivation). It speaks of a person who is emotionally (will and choice) not prepared to carry on with a specific situation. It usually has nothing to do with a real heart attack.

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Isaiah 5:5

And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down.

Ezekiel 13:5

Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.

Mark 12:1

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

Job 2:23

Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

Psalm 80:12

Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

A hedge in dreams and visions symbolizes the protection of the Lord. When He protects us the enemy just cannot penetrate that wall or that hedge which He puts around us which is like the armor of a military tank.

In another sense, hedges and walls symbolize restriction or restraint. In this sense, people cannot do what they want because the walls and the hedges prevent them from doing so. In such a case these walls and hedges are obstacles and hindrances. God does put these type of walls and hedges in the path of the enemy and of bad people who want to hurt other people. God protects us against people and against evil forces.

On the other hand, Christians also sometimes experience obstacles (walls and hedges) that they need to overcome. See “Wall” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Heifer (Red)

See “Calves – (Heifer-Red)”

Helicopter

A helicopter symbolizes a search and rescue mission. When a person goes through a very tough time and faces suffering, God might instruct us to help such a person by means of the symbol of a helicopter in dreams and vision.

A lady once had a dream of her being chased by a gorilla. In the dream, she managed to stay out of its reach. A few moments later the gorilla became more aggressive and the lady had to run for her life. The next moment she was the only passenger in a helicopter. Although they were quite a few meters up in the air, the gorilla was jumping up a few times toward them and grabbing at her, sometimes just missing her by inches. The pilot managed to gain enough height and he removed the lady from the area.

This dream had to do with the lady’s job situation. She was working for a woman who was very aggressive, manipulating and rude. The lady really had a hard time working for this woman. Within a year after the dream, the the lady resigned and found herself another job.

The reason she had this dream, was because she pondered on the whole situation and she longed for this situation to stop. It caused a lot of emotional instability in her life. God answered her by giving her the assurance that it will eventually happen.

Hemorrhoids

Luke 6:27-36

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

2 Timothy 2:23-26

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

When we dream that we have hemorrhoids it means that we, for some reason, have been constantly struggling with spiritual constipation (see “Constipation”). This speaks of a chronic inability to repent and confess sinful inner emotional issues in our lives (see “Toilet (Passing solids”). Hemorrhoids are caused by us chronically being not willing to repent or confess sinful inner emotional issues like bitterness, hate, and contempt. These are sinful emotional issues that are caused by toxic words. In such a case, we need a spiritual operation to remove spiritual hemorrhoids. We need deliverance, counseling, prayer, fasting, and a willingness to allow God to heal our emotional issues.

In another sense, bitterness speaks of bad things in peoples lives because of bad words that they believe and embrace. Bad words cause bitter souls because of regret.

It speaks of a person being in a position of power or victory or enjoying the benefit of being in a good position. The fact that hills are higher than the rest of the surrounding area speaks of an elevated or better position than the average or normal person. This can be in general or in terms of a specific situation.

In a negative sense, it speaks of a person who is arrogant or haughty.

Loins (Hips) in dreams and visions symbolizes spiritual strength and fruitfulness in a person’s life. It speaks of an attitude of strength (a decision). People who decided to be strong in the spirit are people who are not afraid of other people like John the Baptist was. He girded (belt) his loins with strength and he was able to face Herod and his wife with the truth. Such people do not compromise. They stand as strong as a rock. See “Legs” and “Girdle” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Hip (Right)

Genesis 35:11

And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins.

Ephesians 6:14

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

A right hip symbolizes a person who possesses the truth of God which causes him to be fruitful and free. Such a person stands firm and strong and they are not afraid of the enemy and other people. They are spiritual as ready and as strong as can be. See “Legs” and “Girdle” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Always remember to take the difference in meanings into consideration in terms of whether it is the left or right body part that you dreamed of. See “Directions and Locations (movement or location) in dreams and visions (Human body parts)”

See “Hip (Left)”

Holes (In body parts)

Holes in body parts symbolize conditions of weakness or a spiritual influence that weakens the spiritual condition of a person. A lady I know once had a dream of a hole inside her left upper leg the size of a soccer ball. This hole was completely internal and thus invisible.

This lady was suffering from a substance use disorder. She was attempting to overcome this problem and really trusted God whilst doing so. She stopped using medication and after a week she was still doing well. Unfortunately, her mother and her husband both did not support her in this effort. They wanted her to keep using prescription drugs because they feared that she might become moody or a bit aggressive. They started to influence her in a negative way.

The dream she had was a warning from God not to accept the advice from her husband and her mother but to resist the influence that they were putting on her. They were slowly but surely weakening her faith and breaking down her motivation. “Legs” speak of spiritual power. She was slowly losing spiritual power because of the attitude of her mother and her husband.

Injuries on our left legs, therefore, speak of external influences causing spiritual weakness. Injuries on our right legs speak of our actions, whether because of us failing to act or us incapable to act because of situations as indicated by the particular injuries on the leg.

Horn (Animals)

Psalm 18:2

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Luke 1:69

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.

Psalm 75:10

All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Ezekiel 29:21

In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

Revelation 13:1

And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Horns in dreams symbolize power, strength, defense, and conquest. A big horn speaks of great power and a small horn of less than a great power (but still a power). It can represent nations or a king but also speaks of the spiritual power or the influence of individuals. Because it is a symbol of warfare it usually symbolizes our strength and ability when it comes to resisting demonic attacks in our lives. Therefore, it symbolizes our ability to defend ourselves against the enemy by means of resistance (by giving the enemy no foothold in our lives – See “Snake” for a detailed explanation about this aspect of our faith-walk in Christ).

It also symbolizes our power in terms of taking up our heavenly kingdom inheritance. This speaks of us reigning as kings in the kingdom of God. It speaks of us taking by force what is rightfully ours (Matthew 11:12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force).

See “Animals” for a better understanding of this symbol.

See “Horns (Double)” and “Horn (Single)” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Horns (Goat)

The horn of a goat in dreams and visions speaks of a prominent person (powerful) resisting God with rebellious thoughts and actions. They do not submit themselves to the Holy Spirit but are actually resisting the Holy Spirit.

See “Animals” and “Horn (Sheep)” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Horns (One accord)

1 Peter 3:8

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.

People who blow their horns together speak of a group of people who puts their power and strength together. They are of one mind when it comes to resisting the enemy or taking up their position of authority in the kingdom of God.

Horse

Jeremiah 8:6

I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.

Job 39:19

Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

Proverbs 21:31

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

Zechariah 10:3

Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.

Rev 19:19

Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.

A horse speaks of a person’s strength and power. It speaks of a person’s ability (means) to achieve something. It has the same meaning as motorcars (a ministry, motivation or work situation of people). A person with a big, strong, white, powerful (engine capacity) motor vehicle speaks of a person with a good and powerful ministry or motivation in life. A person with an old rusted small motor vehicle speaks of a person with a spiritually poor ministry or poor motivation in life.

Some people often dream about miniature horses. Imagine a miniature motor vehicle in a dream. This brings the perspective that we need. Motor vehicles are the equivalent of the Biblical horses. It has the same meaning in dreams and visions. Miniature horses symbolize a lack of spiritual power or a poor spiritual motivation in a person’s life.

Horse (Black)

Revelation 6:5-6

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

A black horse speaks of a person who is oppressed and depressed by the devil. It speaks of such a person losing his power because of that. It sometimes speaks of downhearted people who are about to give up due to financial or physical or material reasons.

It also speaks of a person who lost his motivation because of oppression.

See “Animals” and “Horse (Red)” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Horse (Flying horse)

Isaiah 13:16

But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

A flying horse speaks of rebellious people who put their trust in “flying horses.” They want to move swiftly and they want to move now. They ignore the fact that horses are designed to run and not to fly just as they ignore true prophecy. These are people who seek prophecies that suit them and their own timing. They resist true prophecy and they do not enter into the rest of God. They do not want to and they cannot wait on God because they have put their trust in another power; their own. Some of them do not wait on God because they do not have confidence in him.

Sometimes Christians dream of flying horses because they have been deceived into adopting this type of attitude and behavior in their lives. Such a dream is a warning from God to warn such people to repent.

See “Animals” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Horse (Pale – A Greenish pale grayish color)

Revelation 6:7-8

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Deuteronomy 32:16

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

A pale horse speaks of a person or people who experience judgment and destruction by evil forces. The people who attempt to destroy other people are often filled with resentment and fights evil with evil. A group of people who reverts to this type of misuse of power are symbolized by pale horses. It is people on a mission to destroy.

See “Animals” for a better understanding of this symbol.

Horse (White)

Revelation 6:1-2

1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

A white horse symbolizes power and the spirit of victory in a believer’s life. It speaks of spiritual authority. We are more than conquerors in Christ.

Hospital

In dreams and visions, a hospital symbolizes a spiritual place of healing. It speaks of either a physical facility where people are receiving divine healing or a “spiritual facility” where people receives divine healing. The latter speaks of Jesus Christ having a “place” in the kingdom of God where people are healed.

Let me explain: A friend of mine used to be very sick. It was a heart disease that could not be cured by the medical profession. This friend of mine truly trusted God for his healing. He did not rely on the medical profession for his healing at all and he did not call the elders to pray for him as he was supposed to.

Often, when he sensed an imminent heart attack, he just walked into the field near his residence and he just seized God for his healing. I can truly say that he utterly trusted God for his healing. He just ignored all the negative symptoms that he experienced. He truly lived as if he was healed already and he did not fear the situation at all.

This went on for quite a few years. Eventually, this man felt very bad. It felt that he was at the end of his life. He told me that he felt like he was only seconds from death but death did not come. It just stayed away.

At that stage, he had a dream of him in a small hospital. He was in his hospital room and he heard people in a nearby room which he later realized was a hospital theater. In the dream, he was lying on his back in the bed. It was if something pinned him down in that bed and he could not move. In the dream, he knew that he was very sick. The next minute something threw him from the bed and pushed him into the corner of the room and kept him pinned down in that corner on his back. He could not move.

Then this “thing” suddenly released him and he, in the dream, stood up, completely healed. My friend remembered that in the dream, at that moment, he felt so relieved and so full of joy and full of life. He then walked to the adjacent room where he discovered that it was a theater. He saw a doctor busy preparing his instruments although there was no patient in the room. It was just the doctor and he could vaguely see a sister or a nurse preparing instruments in another part of the room. The room and the theater were typical hospital rooms.

In the dream, he instantly knew that the doctor was Jesus. He could see many balloons (about 50, with words of praise and thanksgiving written on it) falling from the ceiling. He remembered walking over to the doctor, looking him in the eyes, and saying these words to him whilst he was just standing there smiling at him: “Thank you, Jesus, thank you, Jesus, thank you Jesus” with his left hand holding the doctors left arm. The doctor then nodded his head once with the smile still on his face.

The next day, my friend started recovering and he is still healed until this day.

In dreams, doctors, nurses, sisters, and hospitals and other medical aids and equipment speak of the healing ministry. It sometimes speaks of a real-life incident referring to people laying hands on people but, it does sometimes refer to a healing incident where people were not involved at all like the incident with my friend has proven.

House

1 Corinthians 3:9

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

1 Peter 2:5

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 3:4-6

4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Jude 1:20

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

In most cases, a house in dreams and visions symbolizes the human heart or the condition of the soul of a specific person. We are spiritual houses as the Scriptures above declares. Each room in the house symbolizes a different aspect of our inner being. For instance, the sitting room symbolizes personal social situations or relationships in our lives. The bedroom symbolizes the personal and private aspects and situations in our lives.

Sometimes we dream of the outside areas of houses as well. The exterior condition of the house and the garden speak of the condition of the heart as well. What is in the heart of a man can be perceived by people just by observing his actions and conduct. In dreams, the outside condition of a house tells us what is in the heart of the person it represents. It tells us what the condition of the soul is. See “Heart” A “heart” in dreams symbolizes the soul and not the spirit of man. The spirit of man is symbolized by the “Stomach” or “Belly.” See “Stomach” and see “Belly”

The back of the house is the past and the front of the house is the present or future. The backyard is his past life and the front yard the present or future life. The whole yard symbolizes a person’s personal life situations (past, present, and future). See “Garden” which has a different meaning than backyard or front yard.

Furniture symbolizes all the equipment and tools that we need in our spiritual hearts to make things organized and easy or convenient for us. Furniture in dreams and visions speaks of spiritual aids that help us maintain our spiritual conditions or wellness. A closet or a drawer or a cupboard or a suitcase speaks of the condition our spiritual preparedness (clothes) are stored. If our clothes are new and beautiful and white or purple or blue (all positive colors) it speaks of us being prepared for life and for ministry in a good positive way. If the cupboards and drawers are new and beautiful and white and blue and gold it speaks of us protecting (caring) our clothes (preparedness for ministry) in a good responsible way. Dark, brown, broken, black, old, red, yellow, dirty furniture in a chaotic condition (house not clean and furniture not maintained) speaks of our hearts (inner being – souls) in a bad, unprotected and chaotic spiritual condition (backsliding, no spiritual growth or development).

In another sense, houses in dreams symbolize the church, a congregation or an institutional church. The interior and the exterior condition of the house reveal the condition of the church or the congregation. Houses, in this sense, typically symbolizes house churches or small congregations. The bigger institutional churches or denominations are symbolized by the extended or bigger version of houses and that is multilevel buildings. Global denominations and even the global church, in general, are symbolized by impressive skyscrapers.

See “House (Full of spider webs)” and “House (Bedroom full of sand)” for a better understanding of this symbol.

House (Very untidy and disorderly)

A very untidy and disorderly house in dreams symbolizes a person or a congregation who does not care about righteousness and truth. They are spiritually indifferent and lazy. It speaks of chaos in their spiritual lives.

House (Old)

An old house symbolizes an old type of church or an old situation or an old way or method of serving God in a congregation or in a particular person’s life. This speaks of the institutional church being renewed back into the state or condition it was before the Roman Catholic Church defiled it with human traditions. The work of the reformers like Martin Luther and many others are important in this sense. What this symbol refers to is the reverting back to conditions which was part of the church before the restoration work carried out by the reformers.

In another sense, it speaks of darkness or unbelief or sin or separation from God.

Husband

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

John 15:1

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

1 Corinthians 3:9

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Isaiah 54:5

For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

1 Peter 3:1

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.

A husband speaks of our Lord Jesus Christ who is our heavenly husband. It speaks of headship, protection or the “bonder” of the household. It speaks of spiritual security or sustenance.

Husbands in dreams can also be literal in which case the husbands represent themselves.

Hyena

Hyenas symbolize people trying to gain an advantage in a situation without an effort or without actively achieving it by working for it. They usually do not deserve what they obtain. This happens in all areas of life whether it is spiritual, financial or for any other reason. It symbolizes people who want everything for free or at least at a very low price. They also do not want to share what they obtained. They are selfish when it comes to financial gains and even spiritual blessings. They quite easily become very aggressive if they cannot get what they want or when somebody else also wants what they have obtained through their selfish behavior.
